What?? I have to hear this. Please, who posted?
It's an old tale, perhaps even before this current incarnation. I can't see any obvious post through a quick search. However, it was a rather cute tale about an woman from an Asian woman who called a tech support line and wailed about how her computer was dead despite her feeding it.

An on-site tech came to the house and found the computer stuffed with rice. It was a cultural thing to assume that a device such as that contained a soul, but most left a small bowl of rice near the device for the spirit of it to come out and feed from the bowl. Instead, she'd stuffed rice into every opening possible.

I didn't think it was that old. I was hoping the poster would remember.

A friend of mine worked in the computer lab in college. This was in the 80's, not too long after 3.5 floppy drives became the norm. He told me one time about a girl who said she was having a problem with one of the computers.

It turned out that she had her work on a 5 1/4 floppy and was using a machine that only had a 3.5 drive. Her solution; she folded the 5 1/4 disk in half and inserted it into the 3.5 drive!

Anyone recall the TV ad from a few years ago when the dad tells his toddler son the VCR "eats" the tapes? Anyone recall what that was an ad for?

What?? How does that even make sense to an SC?

There are some people who really shouldn't be allowed near computer. Really.

I can't even comment on the rice....
