The price for the SDRAM is pretty dead on, but you have to admit that the HD was a bit overpriced; I found several 160GB drives online for $50, and that includes shipping. Unless the price includes install, which then I understand.

The OP said the HD was installed as a slave to the original. When I do that I:
      1) set the jumper properly - Google it if the instructions aren't on the HD
      2) connect it to the right slot on an IDE cable (IF they had the proper cable - otherwise find one)
      3) connect to a working power lead
      4) secure it in the bay with the right screws - find some in the screw jar.
      5) Get the machine to see it - possibly initialize it
      6) Format it
      7) Test it

For $40 over the cost of the HD? A bargain for someone who doesn't know how to do any of this.

I agree. However, the OP only stated that they charged $90 for a 160GB HD. That would be why, in my previous post, I wrapped up by saying if it included installation I understood why it was more expensive.

Fast, Cheap, Right ... definitely the three pillars of software development economics.

            Don't forget

The extra rails/frame needed to mount a hard drive in some computers. My present desktop machine only has 5.25 inch bays. Without a frame only one side of the drive can be screwed in and the drive can flap if the computer is moved alot. No problem sitting by my desk, big problem transporting it from a service center if you travel rough roads or handle the computer itself carelessly.
