Hey, now. As much as we take the internet for granted, there ARE those who have never had cause to use it before. When I worked tech support, I got the occasional little old lady who didn't even know how to use a mouse. It's new to them, there's no shame in that. At least he was looking for info instead of remaining stuck in ignorance.

Indeed. My problem (well, one of many) is that I was exposed to computers starting at about age 6 and have had one form of modem or another for the whole time. I have been wired since the days when a 28.8k modem was the cutting edge of consumer connectivity and, for me, a lifestyle without internet would be like becoming a Vegan. *shudder*
P.S. No offense to Vegans, of course. Veganism is simply the first radically different lifestyle factor I thought of.

Once again, there needs to be a mandatory IQ test before you're allowed to own a computer.
agreed, there also needs to be mandatory IQ tests for many other things including but not limited to:
        Driving
        Having kids
        Drinking coffee
Using any form of credit/debit card
Having a job that requires dealing with people(cursing out coworkers, anyone? :P)
Owning videogames(forget the age rating, parents that would have failed the having kids test buy games that are so violent they were banned in other countries, and by it for 12 years olds who don't know how to deal.)

I'll stop now before this starts leading to fratching. :P

If you had to make that disclaimer, then it probably would have been better if you hadn't started in the first place.

            Don't Know it Alls!

People have no shame! I don't know who is worse. The SC that comes onto the phone line saying he is computer savvy, maybe even admit to being an "IT" person, yet I still can't download software, or the one who willingly admits they are "not" computer savvy and mean it. I just love the ones who are in IT, according to their comments. When you ask them to look for the URL bar or the address bar on their web-browser, they yell, "Oh, is it that Yahoo, Google, MSN, AOL, search bar?" It's like UGH!!! You dumb a$$!!!!

I had a customer ask me how to use the keyboard once, in person. The only thing I could say is: "You press the keys."
