Got this gem Friday 9:30 pm.
Me: Hello
Boss/Grandmother: Hi Honey (it's always honey or dear, I don't think I've ever mentioned that before)
Me: Eugh... please, don't, what is it that you needed?
B/G: I'm at the office and am having problems copying in colour
Me: Is the original in B/W or Colour? (Note how I didn't say "Did you press the Colour button, I'm learning )
B/G: B/W but I've got it set to colour
Me: Okay... I found your problem. What would happen if you took a picture with a 35 mm camera using black and white film and ask them to develop it in colour?
B/G: They couldn't do it, there is no colour on the film.
Me: Okay, now do you see your problem?
B/G: Um... how do I print this in colour off of TorontoMLS?
Me: File -> Print -> Colour Printing -> Print
B/G: So, I'm in the print dialog, Xerox Phaser Black-and-white is selected, I've clicked Colour Printing instead of Xerox Phaser, now I just enter 30 for quantity and click Print?
Me: If you want 30 copies then, yes, that's it.
B/G: Oh, how did you set up colour like that?
Me: It's a network printer, right,
B/G {interrupts me}: Oh, so you just added it twice
Me: Um... you can't figure out how to copy in colour, but you understand this?
B/G: Yes, you told me that it's a network printer but uses USB for the printing, so I guess you just added it once over the network for colour and use USB for black and white?
Me: Um... call me back and leave a message on my voicemail. Mention the problem, the black-and-white original, and your understanding of how I setup the printer.
B/G: Oh, you just want to show off how stupid I am, don't you?
Me: You're learning.
B/G: Well, they printed, I'll see you tomorrow.
