  • Soda and trackpad buttons

    Hey all!

I have a compaq nc6120 laptop at work. Last year, I had a soda blow up over the keyboard.

Everything works, but the trackpad buttons (the "mouse" buttons) get really sticky, and sometimes get stuck down. I've tried a moist paper towel between the buttons, but it doesn't seem to help.

    Suggestions?

ouch, that depends on the answer to this question. Do you mind taking apart the laptop?

If you don't mind dismantling the laptop, just just take it apart and clean it out.

Otherwise, try getting a brush that has very thin hairs and try to carefully with very little liquid get as much of it off. What probably work if you got enough space to get it between the button and laptop is a moist hand wipe. Slip that under the button (with the power off and battery disconnected, of course) and just mash that button. Throughly dry out the button (which shouldn't take long with a hair dryer). And test.
I've lost my mind ages ago. If you find it, please hide it.

I guess I can just take it apart.

      I've done worse.
