Based on the pictures on Newegg the power supply has a 20 pin motherboard power connecter, where the mothered is 24 pin.

Based on the reviews of the motherboard I'd say look for something else. I'd go for Asus or Gigabyte for brand.

Except he said that the mobo and processor are the *only set* things. Switching isn't an option.

I'm going to tell you right now though, 450W power supply is a bad idea. You're not going to be able to do much with it. In fact, you might be straining it just with what you have now.

Missed the bit about the set in stone items.
In which case I'd advise more research on the mobo to be sure either it's good for OP, or if it's been priced dumped for being a piece of tat.

The other thing I've found is that power supplies that come with the case have a greater chance of dying in a few months than a separately purchased ps. I'd recommend looking into that.

In addition, it looks as though your combo deal is no longer being offered. You really have to jump on those combos right away before they disappear. My personal feelings? That mobo is NOT worth the price it is being sold for. Do yourself a huge favor and go looking for a standard ATX mobo. You'll get more PCI slots, have more room to work in the machine, and you can find one for cheaper than that pos too.

My first reaction was to the power supply. If you're looking at a newer setup, and you get less than 600W, it's my experience that you're just begging for problems, and they're of the "My OS just crashed on me again. What do I do to fix it now?" variety.

Personally, I'd go for at least 1000W supply, just to play it safe.

1000W is a bit on the high side, Pederson. If you look at the other things that he's running, a 450W is pushing it, but 600W would be quite sufficient. It's not like he's going to be running 8 fans, dual SLI vid cards, a huge CPU fan, 5 hdds, etc.

You're right, it is a bit on the high side, and the 600W would likely do fine.

However, I found myself getting burned by an inadequate power supply after one of my latest upgrades. After that, I've decided to play it safe and always ensure that I've got more power available than I need, so I don't have to worry about it.

How about a compromise on PSU?
Get a 750w, and an Antec.

I bought an Antec PSU, and it's been steady, good...just good quality. Good fan, lots of connectors, what I need.

But you will DEFINITELY need more than a 450w. Especially with hard drives getting cheaper, its so nice to just add another HD....and they suck power.

I've been quite happy with my CoolerMaster psu too. It's pretty, and it lights up blue.

The Mobo and Processor are set because I am getting a deal for those 2 and Windows Vista Premium for a bit over $230 which is a good deal. Haven't decided if I'll use Vista yet or stick with XP. AS for the power supply I may switch over to this case

Thanks Rvdammit for pointing out power connector for the mobo, completely forgot to check that. I usually would go with a Asus board but like I said this offer was to good to pass up.

I still say that mobo is not worth it... and I'm still paranoid about getting a psu/case deal. I would strongly recommend changing your mind.

If you are unsure whether you even want to switch over to Vista, then I could see why that deal seems good... but I also severely dislike Vista... so I would stick with XP. But I wish you luck with your computer. Keep a backup psu for when yours burns out after 2-3 months.
