  • Open Office - opening several files at once?

I recently downloaded Open Office, since WordPerfect seems to have encountered a bug and my computer now says that it can't locate the program (><

It works alright, but the one thing I don't like is when I want to have several documents open at once, it opens a new window, as opposed to having all the documents open in Word or WP. Kind of like IE vs. Firefox, if that makes sense.

Is there a way to set it so I can open them in tabs?

Well, I did a Google search for a tabbed interface.

The first hit I found was a forum thread discussing how to get a tabbed extension.

This also led me to a wiki discussion on how to implement it, a discussion which has not been updated since April 30, 2007.

So, to answer: Not as far as I can find will OpenOffice.org do what you are looking for right now. And, if I had to guess, I'd say it won't be doing it until at least v3.0, which is due out in September, 2008.

Sorry, I don't have better news. But at least I can give an answer.

Ah well, thanks for looking around for me, Pedersen! September's not too far off . . .

BTW, I just downloaded and installed v3.0 beta. Nice looking, loads *very* quickly. Still no tabbed interface, though. There's still plenty of time for it to make it in, but I'm not holding my breath for it.
