    Here's a fun one.

    Personal AV.

    Ran MalwareBytes (MBAM) twice in safe mode, and it's still there. One of those times was off my new Ultimate Boot CD. Running it a third time in regular mode with the PAV process stopped. It's found 5 items and it's 19 minutes into the scan.

    Any suggestions on other scanners that kill PAV?

    Ouchu. If you can't kill it while booting to something like the UBCD...o_O Note -- not popping the disc in while under windows nor safemode, I mean actually booting to its BartPE environment.

    I'm assuming it's the most recent UBCD, you're booting to the CD/USB it's on, and that you have allowed the "cleaner" progs you're running to get their updates, yes? (they don't always have recent definitions)

      Yep, it's fully updated, and running from BartPE.

      It seems that the third time was the charm. It got it.

        Generally for this pest I kill the process, then go into the program files and delete the directory. Afterwards I'll run CounterSpy (only one on our allowed software list that's effective for it) and it's usually gone.

        Hope this helps.
