    Hello there!

I've recently aquired a Toshiba TV, but no manual. The wires for the external speakers are as follows - one plain black, one black with a white stripe.

Does anyone know which is positive and which is negative before I blow the speakers up?
A PSA, if I may, as well as another.

Usually the striped cord is positive, but 's just a guess. Do you have a model number? You might be able to find a manual online.

Check either the front or the back of the television and you should be able to find a model number.

Online manuals can be found on the Toshiba website . . . had to do this for my television (20" flatscreen combo w/DVD and VCR.)

They also sell replacement remote controls, if you should ever need one (and I've got to order one soon - my original remote has DIED. Even new batteries didn't help it.)

If you need further help, send up a PM tomorrow night (I'll be online longer then - bedtime calls right now) and I'll help you scourge the Internet for help.

Speakers aren't polarity sensitive devices, so it doesn't matter if you hook the black to "positive" or the black with a stripe.

However, sets of speakers need to be in phase (cones all move outward & inward at the same time), so if you connect black to one speakers "positive" you should do the same with the other(s).
