And, yet, there's still barely anything on it. >.<
I'm not so good at the back-up thing.

Yeah, I have two externals and havn't done a backup in months... Which means whatever I have really isn't that important. I use file and print sharing knowing how horrible it is because I hope my router is enough to protect me because I don't want to have a printer in my room or deal with my mom unable to figure out how to connect one to her laptop and well running random printers in linux is a pain. Windows doesn't want to play nice with CUPS/SAMBA for printing (at least for the printers I own).
Sounds like the OP has it covered with an external but it couldn't hurt to get them sharing files to make it easier to transfer without needing to move the external. I know XP had a program that allowed you to make a floppy disk or USB stick that had the connection wizard to setup older model computers....
I'm sorry reading is not a new concept it has been widely taught in our nation for at least the past 100 years. Please, learn to do it CORRECTLY before you become contagious.
If you were transferring files from Win7 to Win7 via wireless network, that's easy you just set up a home group.
With Win2k and Win7, you could still do it, but it's a bit more difficult. I would personally buy a switch (cheap) and go from the router to the switch and hook the two computers up using an Ethernet cable. Make sure the firewall is off or adjusted to allow data transfer and go about it that way.
When will the fantasy end? When will the heaven begin?
Windows 2000 was actually a pretty nice OS, considering the *other* modern choice.
Windows 7 is still my favorite, followed up by XP and shortly by 2000
Hear, hear! ^_^
My "Windows versions I actually use" path (post-9x) went 2000 pro > xp pro sp2 > 7 pro-or-whatever-it's-called. No point in getting Ultimate, afaik it's essentially Pro/Ent with language packs pre-installed...
I had 2000 for sooooo long. Thing is, being a gamer, I had a few ....issues...getting older stuff to run. Then I discovered ntcompatible.com and that made it all better
To be fair, I have at least tried WinMe (BSOD less than 30 minutes after initial install was complete...I didn't even have all of the basic Windows updates done) and Vista (pretty enough, but I didn't try it until 7 was in RC...and between the two, there was no contest...7 = faster boot, less RAM, less pestering. Yeah.)
tbh, tho, i still would like to run a MS-DOS 6.22+e box just to see if I could get it to work, and see if my RAM-fu is still up to par (my record is all drivers for all of my crap, with expanded mem enabled so I can run Master of Magic, with more than 600kb "low" RAM free (something like 6kb UMB free))...I still have those blasted OS floppies around here somewhere >_> Yes, the real ones

I never had issues getting older stuff to run, but all the newer stuff doesn't have Win2k support at all, so it's a bit of a crapshoot as to whether or not they'll work in it. Which is most of the reason I finally updated.
