    And here it is again, missing root file

    Hubby and I THOUGHT we figured the issue out when he reformatted it ages ago. Laptop was put out (Toshiba Satellite) with Vista home version. So because of that eff up there on occasion he put windows xp on it. not thinking i suppose that vista has the SATA drivers instead of the older IDE. (something i was recently made aware of) and every now and then it would have the little missing file that it needs from startup to get to the OS easy fix.
    Now its doing the root missing thing. This was a WEEK AFTER I put in sims 3 and sims 3 ambitions. and the game ran smoothly and everything worked fine on the laptop so WHY is it having this issue again!?!?!

    I went through the other thread and noticed there was no complete information on the laptop you are using. I see you noted its a Toshiba Satellite, but that model was in production over several years. Please post the model number and I will do my best to help you. It should be on the bottom of the laptop.

      it was put with windows vista and hubby reformatted and put in windows xp
      recently reformatted again and just put back the basics as in antivirus program and what we need no fancy background or images or any of the programs we've been using its now just a web surfing device instead of for games and what not
