  • Canon scanner not working with win 7

I have a Canon MP210 printer/scanner. Ever since I got my new laptop that run Win 7 ( I'm not sure which version exactly) The scanner no longer works! I get an error message saying that the drivers are not installed ect ect. The printer portion works fine.

I have tried updating the drivers several times to no avail. The laptop recognizes the printer/scanner it just wont scan any documents

    please help

Have you tried going to the company website to see if its compatible with windows 7? Updating drivers wont matter if they aren't compatible.

    http://www.siliconguide.com/drivers/device/1065/

The drivers for windows 7 are on that page. Make sure you get the correct copy. Windows 7 comes in 32 bit and 64 bit. If you get the wrong one, it won't work.

How old is the scanner? If it's really old, it might not run under Win7. I had that same problem with a webcam I had since the early XP days.

The website I posted has the drivers for the windows 7 for your model on that page. You may have to uninstall the old drivers in order to install the new ones.

          Thanks for the suggestions

The drivers did not work. Is it possible that the printer portion is compatible with Win 7 while the scanner portion isn't? I've never encountered that but its the only think I can think of.

No, they'd both be compatible. The drivers are for both.

I don't have time now because I have to leave for work in a few minutes, but I'll post asap step by step instructions on how to try to find out.

If you've installed new security software with the new Windows 7 install, it may be interfering with communications with the printer.

AVG did an update recently that's had a lot of odd little things in it (I hate AVG), so security components interfering is not unheard of.

Sorry it took me a bit to get back to you. Things have been a little hectic around here.

Have you tried looking on Canon's website? Sometimes other people have the same problems and they can give you an answer. Most of these companies have forums for exactly that problem.

As well, did you uninstall the original drivers before trying the new ones?
