Additionally, make sure you're RIGHT AT the WiFi point, whether it is a Wireless router, FiOS cable/router, or what have you.

Each router has their own interface but you're looking for a wireless security option.

Now befor you go any further, do you know what signal the card is set for (a, b, g, n) and what type the router is?
Not sure if this is what you're looking for... but the under Wireless Setting it says 802.11 Mode is set to "Mixed 802.11n, 802.11g and 802.11b"...

Just noticed one thing... it's saying 4 channels under "Dynamic DHCP Clients" and I see my computer, my tablet, and I think two phones... How to I check to see what her computer's Hostname would be, to see if it's on this list, and if it's not on the list is that the problem, or am I just distracted by something shiny?

Okay, assuming the computer isn't running a 802.11a (which is incompatible with all other types) you're good on that.

Possibly distracted, it depends on if it has a maximum number of devices that can connect to it. If it is capped you'll have to remove a device, though I doubt that this is the issue.

The particular heading would have a label of security or encryption somewhere in it. That's what you want to find.

            Router is a D-Link DIR-601.

            Her laptop uses Windows XP.

(Edit: I'm at work right now, but I do remember these details)

If the password is saved for that network, you might want to delete the network from the computer, and then rejoin and retype the password. We have issues here at work when we change the wifi password where the systems will continually feed the wrong password to the router instead of prompting for a new one. and I htink in that case, it does assign a 0.0.0.0 IP address.

Good tack suburban! I thought running through XP's Connection Wizard treated available WiFis as "new" but apparently not.

Glad your sister's up and running El.

Most other systems will figure out when the password is wrong and ask for a fresh one. I think it's only Windows which doesn't do something so obvious and helpful.

Windows doesn't ask for a new one, and neither does IOS. Ask me how I know this
