  • Quick Guidelines for "Celebrity" Death Threads

(from an original idea by dendawg)

I know there have been an inordinate amount of celebs (and other notables) passing away recently; while we all definitely appreciate the heads-up, we figured they've become frequent enough that such threads should have some basic, if loose, ground rules. Please adhere to the following:

Just as a forewarning -- these will be under heavy mod attention

Post them in Check It Out subforum

Title MUST include the person's name (this is to cut down on the duplicate threads along these lines)

If someone closely linked to the deceased died soon thereafter, it's OK to mention it in the first one's thread, but please make a separate thread for the second person, and link to that in the first person's thread. E.g. Debbie Reynolds passed away shortly after Carrie Fisher did; should this happen in the future, please make a brand-new thread about Reynolds and drop a link to THAT thread in Fisher's thread.

Include a credible news sources, ie: a major news site, TMZ, CNN, Eonline, etc. The death must be posted to a credible site to be considered. NO HOAXES, PLEASE!! Check snopes or wherever you can, to back it up, even if it looks legit at first

State the celebrities' name, and their claim to fame (or infamy, as the case may be) -- Not everyone may know who this person was. Obvious exceptions for people who are household names pretty much everywhere.

Their celebrity status should not be limited to entertainers. Minor/local celebrities may be included also, so long as where their fame was is included

If there are any potentially disturbing facts or images in the page you link to, they MUST be tagged next to the link itself

Thank you very much, and may all those who have fallen, rest in peace.
