So, um, how many of you buy this Star Wars theory???
Nope. Bad genetics in the explanation. The author was right about lighter hair/eyes being recessives, and also correct that for a mother with dark hair/eyes to have a child with lighter hair/eyes, she had to be carrying the recessives.
However, the author stated more than once that lighter hair/eyes somehow must have become dominant genetic traits in the possible fathers of the children discussed, and that the father of a child with lighter hair/eyes must have shared that coloring. This is totally wrong. Autosomal traits don't switch from dominant to recessive or vice-versa based on the sex of the carrier. It is totally possible for the children discussed, with lighter hair/eyes, to have been fathered by men who had dark hair/eyes like the mothers of those children.
That guy is full of it. He says early in the article:
The fact of the matter is. Anakin Skywalker did have a father. And I believe I can prove who it is using a power that penetrates and surrounds us. It unifies and binds us. It is of course: Data.
Data is in the Star Trek universe, not the Star Wars universe. Not only that he is an android and cannot impregnate a woman.
So that guy is totally wrong.
"I don't have to be petty. The Universe does that for me."
I find the Darth Jar-Jar theory much more plausible.
"I look at the stars. It's a clear night and the Milky Way seems so near. That's where I'll be going soon. "We are all star stuff." I suddenly remember Delenn's line from Joe's script. Not a bad prospect. I am not afraid. In the meantime, let me close my eyes and sense the beauty around me. And take that breath under the dark sky full of stars. Breathe in. Breathe out. That's all."
-Mira Furlan
Yes, the theory I saw for Darth Jar Jar on Reddit was actually really well thought out and explained, down to his "Drunken Fist" style of taking down enemies, complete with requisite hand-waving at key points.
