  • Ahhh... the racism card...

I read so many of these posts... it grows tiresome...

    http://complaint.tv/finn_mccools_-1077.html

It is unfortunate, but I don't think this is ever going to stop being an issue... at least not in our lifetimes.

      WHAT?

When I read that, my only response was:

      "What? .... .... What?? .... What...? o_o"

How in the world is that connected to your RACE? I mean, I've seen all sorts of people drink out of styrofoam cups. Is there a label on the plastic wrapping that clearly states, "For racist purposes only"? I tend to read fast-- maybe I missed it?

Seriously though, I doubt that the business would buy styrofoam cups to serve just in case a certain race walked in.

This reminds me of another thread I read yesterday, though I don't quite remember the title; there was a woman who was screaming about another customer in front of her being 'sexist' for not letting her pay for her items before him. "He's so sexist! Hasn't he heard of the phrase 'Ladies First'?"

I may dislike racism, but I hate the people who blame racism for every little mishap in their lives more.

Now, normally I'm a gentleman, holding doors and the like, but for the entitled ones I like to fall back on an old favorite.

"Haven't you heard? We're all equal now. Enjoy the line and revel in your equality."

I feel like it's sexist to expect another customer to go behind you if they got there first just because they're male. That's horrible. Now, if someone, male or female, offers for me to go ahead of them, I'll probably accept it.

I've waved both men and women ahead of me when they've had small orders and I had a large one.

Yeah, I really just hate the phrase "ladies first". If someone says it to me while holding a door open, I'll STILL get annoyed. Which I really shouldn't, since they're trying to be polite. I just don't think it's fair, that all. I like to revel in my equality.

I like the repsonse to the article that was linked.

No no no... Racism is having a stack of napkins behind the bar and the bartender saying "No, you don't get one because you're black.", or having an air-conditioned room in the 'sweltering' club for Jewish patrons only. That's racism.

Not being able to produce items that they do not have in stock, or providing beverages in *gasp* Styrofoam for SAFETY REASONS is not. You obviously have serious entitlement issues to be able to play the 'race card' to easily.

Revel all you like, and I shall revel in my freedom to be a genleman and hold the door for you.

If it makes you feel better, I hold doors for men too. I do it because I'm a nice guy, not for any misplaced feelings of gender superiority.

It depends for me, I'll hold the door if I notice someone is right behind me, or if they're laden with goods... Those two drunk b*tches in Vegas? Hell no, you got arms! Use them!

I will hold doors if the person is right behind me or wait a minute if I see thy have arm loads of stuff. Over the summer I was walking in a fast-food place and noticed there was someone behind me. Naturally, I held the door open so it did not start to close on them. The women behind me called me sexist for think she is not smart enough to open a door. My response was to let the door close and walk in the restaurant. She then pulled out her cell phone and stood there. By the time I left she was still outside on the phone.

but I've also been described as abrasive towards people who piss me off, and I can't argue with that assessment

That's feminism gone off the deep end along with many parents not teaching their children common courtesy anymore. Any woman who objects to common courtesy and politeness like that, is likely single and often wonders why she seems to date jerks and complains that all the good ones are taken.
