This death is so sad. She was special.

She was indeed. She was another one of those people that you thought would, somehow, go on forever.

I was on my break at work when I saw the headlines.

Coworker: "If anybody says 'Who's Tina Turner?" I'm gonna smack 'em."

Smart-ass Other Coworker: "Who's Tina Turner?!"
      *ducks and runs*

I think this was one of my favourites among her body of work, not just her appearance and character in the movie, but this song in particular:

This has me bummed. I know I heard a story about how her husband was a match for an organ donation and the only thing I remember thinking was "Damn, that really is made for each other."
I would have a nice day, but I have other things to do.

I was talking about her passing with family last night, and my 10yo stepson said he didn't know who she was. So I played "What's Love Got to Do With It" on my phone, and he started singing along. It was very sweet.
"I look at the stars. It's a clear night and the Milky Way seems so near. That's where I'll be going soon. "We are all star stuff." I suddenly remember Delenn's line from Joe's script. Not a bad prospect. I am not afraid. In the meantime, let me close my eyes and sense the beauty around me. And take that breath under the dark sky full of stars. Breathe in. Breathe out. That's all."

One might even say, she was simply the best.

The editorial cartoon was in today's newspaper.

                  RIP Aunty Entity.
I actually posted a pic of her as Aunty Entity in a discord a while back. Nobody had a clue who it was. I'm just gonna go wander off into a forest and disappear with the rest of the Ancients now.

And here I am, feeling sad that a lot of people seem to think that her career started in the 80s...
“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged.
One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world.
The other, of course, involves orcs." -- John Rogers
