  • Welp, figured I try Star Wars Galaxies and ran their 14-day trial. Took a 20 minute run which led me into 3 space firefights that I was screwed on after a 4 hour experience with the command interface to realize that well the concept was well done, the execution was the crappiest I have ever seen. FFXI for all it's flaws (and it has a list of them) at least has a workable interface. Really sucks when playing as a trader as you get NO experience for kills, so joining the Rebels or Empire is really a wasted effort.

    • Good to know some things never change. I tried playing it when it first came out. Every time they patched it, it became more broken. I was actually in a game store semi-recently, and some salesman tried to get me to buy it. Told him "No thanks, I bit that bullet once already." He claimed they'd improved it. I doubted his honesty.

Probably to get rid of any remainig copies they had. I know I was contemplating it for Left Behind. I think every store I've seen is still on their first shipment.

I all honesty, it's nice that they specialise you so that you get a ton of XP from doing what your class is supposed to do, but when you get no XP from doing anything else, that's just wrong.

        • Better late than never, I just picked up Jericho. I saw it got a lot of bad reviews, but I am having a blast with it. I love Undying, the first Clive Barker game, and this one is suitably creepy as well. Hellgate: London ticked me off, as it seems like I can't finish the single player without other people. I got to this area that is like Unreal Onslaught, and I keep failing to get enough nodes by myself to beat the machine. So, I gave up and beat Crysis instead.

I have been jamming on Condemned and The Darkness on 360 as well, and those two are a blast so far even if I do have to up the gamma to see anything. I also am on a mission to get all gamerscore for Lego Star Wars 2 and Complete. We also got Scene It and played the heck out of it too.

Picked up Game Party for Wii, and that one is a lot of fun, especially the darts and skeeball. We tend to play as family on that one, so we are constantly trying to outdo each other. The Mrs. currently has the high score on the hoop shoot, through an incredible zen-like round.

          • Here we go. I have Condemned for the PC, but just like Oblivion, it runs at about half a frame per second. I know I need to upgrade, but I'm not sure what I can still upgrade in this model. It's probably just time to get a new computer, but I'd really like to build one from scratch, so I might just wait on it. Jericho looks fun, but I'm sure Crysis won't work on my machine either...though it looks very cool. Also...my game came in the mail...

            - Super Smash Bros Melee (GC)

I'm sure everyone's played this by now, but my wife and I had fun beating the hell out of each other and unlocking stuff on it last night. Good times. I'm planning on getting the new Pheonix Wright as soon as I get paid. Seriously, I wasn't even aware it was out. Now I have to contemplate whether or not I ought to hurry the hell up and beat the last one or what...kinda stuck. Also, since I'd been getting more creative lately, what with RPG Maker and all, I decided to start writing out various plot points and such for my game and I've already taken out a full chapter!

Even better, the way I've written it up is via missions, so I can edit here and there as I see fit, adding and removing things at will that have dependencies on others. Fun.

              • Yeah, Brawl looks like it's going to be great. Too bad I don't have a Wii yet. In any case, I hammered away more on SSBM and also picked up Mario Kart Double Dash. Honestly, though, I'm thinking I'll be needing to pick up a Mario Party soon...wifey gets pissed that I'm unstoppable on Mario Kart and she can only beat me with handicaps on Melee. She still enjoys playing, though, but only in small bursts.

Beyond this, yes, I picked up Apollo Justice. Good stuff. I also hammered away more on Metal Saga and SMT: Nocturne. That's about it, though.

                • So yeah...I changed my avvie because I learned about the upcoming FES version of Persona 3. That is GREAT. I thought it was Japan exclusive, but they're porting it to English as well.

                  • So yeah, I started playing a few more games yesterday...

                    - Lego Star Wars 2 (PC)
                    - Baldur's Gate 2 with Throne of Bhaal Expansion (PC)
                    - Metal Saga (PS2)

The only problem is BG2 is just the way I thought it would be...too wordy and very typical of PC RPGs. I'm not giving up on it, but I think I'll definitely have to run through the tutorial as I have no idea what I'm doing. Metal Saga, as I've mentioned before, is pretty fun in small bursts. It's a nice, sandbox-style RPG in a post-apocalyptic world with plenty of humor.

I really enjoyed the original Lego Star Wars and I'm happy the second is just as good as the first. If you haven't tried them, you ought to for a quick, fun, easy romp through the Star Wars universe packed with humor. That's about it for now.

I second that - I played through them both, now I can't wait for the other 2 compilations of the Lego games, Batman and Indiana Jones.

What I'm playing right now? Nothing, but I'm getting ready to - I have to blow off some steam with all that's going on right now (I won't go into that on a thread that's supposed to be about fun, I've got a separate post up). So, I got a GeForce 9600 GT for my computer.

Doubled my 3DMark scores, I'm able to run Quake 4 on Ultra, and other games are a lot smoother now. I have Beyond Good & Evil (underrated - go buy it if you don't have it!), Quake 4, FEAR, and Stalker - Shadow of Chernobyl ready to go once my semester is over.

                      • Stalker lost me, I think it was just to open ended for me maybe. I like my shooters on rails, so I can enjoy killin' and not worry about where to go to do the kilin' FEAR, on the other hand, had me jumping out of my chair! Last game to scare the bejeebers out of my like this was Thief, and I loved every minute of it The expansions are MOTS, but I am looking forward to the Monolith 'sequel' Project Origin.

                        • F.E.A.R. was definitely bad ass, but a little short. Seriously, I've yet to finish either Half-Life...but F.E.A.R. was fairly quick. Quake 4's okay and I definitely need to try Stalker, assuming it works on my PC. Honestly, beyond what I've already stated, I've been going back to playing various Visual Pinball stuffs and King's Quest 1-3 VGA. That, and various other AGS titles. I also need to open that back up and try to create some stuff. Not enough good adventure games out there anymore in my opinion.

                          • Yeah, they've all gone to Europe it seems. I still have a lot of classics unfinished, so when I need a fix I can get it. Picked up the Elvira and Simon the Sorcerer games a while back, and am always on the lookout for the later Sierra games, like Freddy Pharkas Frontier Pharmacist.

                            • For some reason, and perhaps it was just made this way, I could never get Simon the Sorceror to move at a decent speed. Can't say why. Actually the adventure games I've been going through lately are...

                              - Various Sam & Max episodes. Fun stuff, but yeah, a little short.
                              - Callahan's Crosstime Saloon. Very cool game, but puzzles are a little obscure.
                              - Clock Tower (SNES)

Not really a whole lot other than what I've mentioned, basically. And the sad part is with games like Indigo Prophecy, we know it's possible for developers to make more adventure games, but...won't. I guess the Phoenix Wright games count, but not really. It's an entirely different style and relatively straightforward. Speaking of which, I finally knocked out the second episode on Apollo Justice. This is looking to be an awesome one.

"Extremely modified" how? I hate Nascar, but I'm still interested because of the description.

The original Game came with 1 class of cars, around 20 race tracks, and about 50 IA cars. With all Mods that I installed that are around in the internet, I now have 9 class of cars, somewhere in the neighborhood of 1000 IA cars or so, and over 100 race tracks. More of less a shell or the original game.
