  • Stargate SG-1

The final disc is on its way, the only one I haven't seen yet.

I had forgotten that and Atlantis overlapped - must have been a few seasons.

    And Inara - so young!!

I have the original movie, Arc of Truth (haven't watched) and Continuum (watched).

I also have Atlantic rising (technically that's the first episode).

Having watched the whole series (excet the last disc) I'm glad they ended it when they did. Just something about seasons 9 and 10 just don't fit - maybe it's the missing Richard Dean Anderson. (and the "200" episode did touch on that - it was a great episode).

I actually like 9 and 10... even if it did get a bit preachy (which I'll forgive though because they were preaching what I already believe )
That said, season 7 is without argument, the best season in the series

What I really like about the series is that this is the first series that I've seen that is not only a storyline (like ST: Voyager, DS9 (later on)) but the show evolved. You see them evolving from O'Neill pretending to be a Goa'uld (I think that was season 2 or 3?) to people who fly to and from Atlantis.

Season 7 was great, I'll give that. Season 8 seemed to try to feed off of season 7's end - (Bal, well, all of them, and the restructuring of the Jaffa). At least with season 9 you start with something new (the Ori).

Its sad that I get into series like this when they are done (or maybe it is good because i can go though the entire series in a few months?).

My biggest problem with season 8 was that up until that point each bad guy got more and more baddass and terrifying. First Apophus who was powerful, but still a relatively minor system lord, then they introduce replicators, then move up to Anubis who was the ultimate baddass... then it goes back to Bal... what the hell.
Then the Ori were truly terrifying and it redeemed the series.

The ending was rather um... anticlimatic?

You need to watch Ark of Truth. Really, it's just the last episode of Season 10.

Yeah, that's next on the list. I just have a few things to take care of but I'll watch it either tonight or tomorrow night.

Ark of Truth is ok. It's satisfying yet not at the same time. But congrats on finishing the show. You're gonna watch Stargate Universe right? It premiers next week! I can't wait!

Yeah, Arc of Truth, while it closed the series, was rather typical.

As for Stargate Universe - yes. Next Friday and I'm glad Eureka is over so it doesn't conflict.

I was very irritated by the series finale.

Anyhow, I'm going to try and tune in for SGU. I hope it's better than what I've heard from other people.

I liked it actually, oh and 200 too, though the last episode of Series 9 was somewhat ruined for me, pretty much since Monty Python was in my head all throught "Welcome to...Camelot" (Insert Camelot song here)

200 was great - and the only time you met the Furlings.

(and yes, I ran to a Stargate site to see when the hell that flashback happened).

With the Ancients and Azgard gone, the Nox doing their own thing and the Furlings AWOL - it's not much of an alliance that the Ta'ri cam be the fifth race of, though.

I like the ending of SG1 and the movie was awesome. I agree that it is typical but what did you expect, as far as I'm concerned they delivered on the ending. The reason it may appear typical is because multiple times they thought the show was ending and tried to finish big so basically there are several endings they've done.

Season 7 lost city, was originally planned to be what ark of truth is, and then when they got renewed they made it into an extended episode (best space battle I've ever seen) this also sets up Atlantis. Then in season 8 again they though they were ending so we got several endings: freedom for the Jaffa, tie up what's left of the goa'uld (except Baal)and then tie up the storylines for Oma and Anubis. After that we got basically a fan service episode that also served to setup the storyline in Atlantis a little more (zpm). Then Season ten we get three more endings if you count the movies and the final episode (I'll stay away from spoilers) again this set things up in Atlantis (asgaard tech and characters going over).

The last episode of SG1 was basically them saying: look we're going to give you guys the movies and they'll handle the storyline endings there and so we're going to give you something a little different and it's all about the characters and frankly I really loved that episode. I do understand what people are saying but this wasn't them doing that ending and then deciding to do the movies, they had it all planned.

I think ark of truth was really well done, the show has always been about the characters and about them saving lives and protecting people and in Ark of truth every single member of the team gets to have their moment where they put themselves on the line for two entire galaxies and fight to the last. I do wish Jack had been in it but quite frankly he's moved on and did it gracefully Ben Browder was great and I hope that he keeps doing more after this (I would have preferred Vala being a little more mature in the last two seasons though).
