I just got word that my great aunt died Saturday (8/18) morning. She was 91.
My mom had taken her in for a routine outpatient surgery to clear the vein used for dialysis; this was something that had been done about every six months since she started dialysis four years ago. The surgery was successful, but right after it was completed, her blood pressure plummeted and they were not able to not able to get it back up. She had a good week this week, and was alert and cheerful on the way to the hospital.
My great uncle, her husband of 70+ years, is doing OK, devastated when reminded of it, but, mercifully, forgets it after 5 minutes (Alzheimer's)--until the next time he remembers or someone tells him.
I'll be going back to my home town for the funeral. Prayers will be greatly appreciated.
