Somewhere in Denver, a Geography minor dies inside

Try going to the 16th Street Mall (Long outdoor mall for those who don't live in the Denver area). It's oriented at an angle regarding the Cardinal directions, so I can understand why it's oriented at an angle, but I'd like to know whose bright idea it was to have the maps oriented so that North is pointing to the bottom left of the map. Threw me off so badly.
