I have done custom archival picture framing off and on for 30 years. The last 10 were spent running my own little shop in San Antonio. Most of the customers were wonderful, but there were a few that would bring their stuff in for an estimate, then want to think about the estimate for awhile. Fine with me!

I would get a call back several days later with them saying, "I took it to so-and-so and they said they could do it cheaper." implying that I should jump at the chance to match the price. Instead I would highly recommend that they take it to that other place since they were so much less expensive! Always, silence on the other end of the phone.

Several days later, they would bring it back to me. !!!!!

Fine with me! It was good to be the queen.

We'll get that sometimes. Someone will come in claiming some stupidly low price from one of our competitors. So we'll call up the competitor (who often is also a customer and vendor as well, our business sector is just like that) and ask.
