Today is the last day of the spring semester at the university I work at as a contract parking attendant.
The garage was full when this female customer arrived. Here is what happened.
me: "Hi, how may I help you?"
female customer: "Yes...I would like to park."
me: "I'm sorry, but we are full."
female customer: "You are full?!!!"
me: "Yes, we are full."
female customer: "I should be on the event list."
me: "Your name please"
female customer: "My name is Julie Smith. The Social Science dept. should have a reserved spot for me"
So I look at the Outlook calendar, & there is not a reserved spot for anyone going to the Social Science dept.
me: "I'm sorry, but there is not a reserved spot for anyone going to the Social Science dept. & I have no parking spots at all."
female customer: "Can you call the Social Science dept.?"
me: "I'm sorry, but if the garage is full then it is not worth calling any dept."
female customer: "But I & 3 other people have a meeting at the Social Science dept."
me: *well...if I do not have one spot then I do not have 3 more spots*: "I'm sorry, but I have nothing at all."
female customer: "But where do I park at?"
I give her several options.
female customer: "But every parking lot near the university is full & I am late for my meeting."
me: "I'm sorry, but the garage is full & so I cannot help anyone."
female customer: "But I need to park."
Rinse, lather, repeat
She finally leaves.

I cannot make a parking spot (1 spot or 3 spots) magically appear for you when you plead with me & the garage is full.
