I walked up to a register on my break and a guy I knew from a while back was in front of me, I say in a kidding voice "Hey man! Why didn't you come join us on Black Friday?"

He looked at me and said the title.

He has Multiple Myeloma.

.....Shit.

He was cool though, said his blood work was showing great results to the treatment.
Hope he makes it.

Made me feel bad a little though....and the cashier and I both thought he was joking at first but he was serious.
