The rule where I work is, if your till is off by $20 or more, you get written up.
I almost got my first write up last night. After I cashed off, I was off by $30.30.
The manager recounted my final drop to see if I counted it correctly. She said I did. The managers said they'd look around and see if they could find it, but I was currently looking at a write up when I came in the next day.
I told them to call me if they found it.
About an hour after I left, I get a call. It's one of the managers, saying they found the money, because the safe was over by $30, so they rechecked all the money drops. When the second manager looked at my final deposit, she found the mistake that both I and the other manager missed.
Apparently, 6 times 10 is not 30.
Go figure.
