I just couldn't think of anywhere else to put it.

Where I work, they're very relaxed about body piercings. So much so, that I think it's one of the pre-requisites for hiring cashiers: "Nose and tongue? Right, you're in!"
However, I'm the only one with a ring in my nose, rather than a stud. Consequently, I get an awful lot of young girls (usually between 9 and 12) asking me questions, simply because it's more noticeable.

    I had one today:

Girl: I like your nose ring. How old were you when you got it done?
    Me: *concentrating on prices* Umm...16
    Girl: Did it hurt?
    Me: Not a bit! *grin*
Girl's mum: (very quickly) Oh no, it's tremendously painful, really hurts! *to me* Doesn't it?
Me: *realising this poor woman won't get any peace now* Yeah.. that's right!
Girl: As soon as I'm 16, I'm getting one! See, I don't have to be 18!
    Mum: *cringing*
    Me: *silently *

I encourage little ones like that, because I decided wanted my nose done at 11, and wasn't happy until I had it. The whole situation was just so damn funny.

I refuse to lie to innocent children about my body mods. No piercings don't hurt, they actually help to relieve massive amounts of stress. Nope tattoo didn't hurt either, actually it tickled mostly. I have parents give the the evil eye, but why lie?

My mum actually paid for my 1st tattoo, I decided when I was 13 I wanted one, and to get me to shut up about it, she agreed that if I waited till I was 18 she would pay for it. Guess where I spent my 18th b'day?!?
The only words you said that I understood were "His", "Phone" and "Ya'll". The other 2 paragraphs worth was about as intelligible as a drunken Teletubby barkin' come on's at a Hooter's waitress.

I've got one ear piercing, (which in my area is a lot) and I've been asked all the time about it. I too don't lie, nah it didn't hurt. Heck, I often forget about the thing.

However, it's the rednecks that start off with the only pansies get their ears pierced. It's fun then to ask them if they like Dale Earnhardt Jr. Most say yeah, and ask why. "Because he's got his ears pierced." I state. Which, was true. I don't think he wears the stud anymore but hey, they're not likely to check.

I think this girl's mom got her piercings done when she was younger. Back then, they probably didn't have the type of equipment we now have to make piercings less painful.

I don't care what y'all say. Any needle is painful.

Can you guess, I don't like needles

my ear piercing wasn't done with a needle though. If you go to wally world, they use a gun that shoots the thing in. It actually pierces your ear with the stud that they're going to put in. Locks it into this backer too that makes it near on impossible to get out.

A stud is a needle with a ball on the end of it. It's still a needle

Ooh, now piercing guns are painful. My three sets of lobe piercings were done with a gun, and they hurt like hell. I hardly felt my nose or tongue, though, and they were done with needles. :/

That's really true. I suppose that's why they're so addictive - that massive rush of adrenaline, and the giddy high that comes afterwards.
Damn it, now you've made me want a new one.

There's a reason guns hurt. The piercing guns actually use fairly blunt studs as it would not be a good idea to leave ultra sharp needles in someones ears for 6 weeks. Therefore, the guns have to use more force to get the stud through, and can occassionally cause crushing injuries to the cartilage. When you have a professional piercer use a needle, the needle is very sharp, and highly tapered. Less force, less injury, less pain.

I don't remember what getting my ears pierced felt like, I was only 4. But when I got my nipples pierced, it did not hurt one bit. I went to a concert immediately after getting em done, and moshed the night away. They were slightly sore the next day, and occassionally for the next year or so if I got really cold, but nothing bad.

Mmm...blunt force trauma. I had my ears done at 4, too, and I think I cried.

Needles can still hurt, though - I got my labret done the other day, and (because I'm tough like that) passed out. It reeeally hurt. As did the nipples, but I didn't faint that time.

Ugh. I hate those guns. They're fast, sure, but DAMN. I had my first two ear piercings done at the same time with a gun, hurt like hell, stayed swelled and sore for quite a while. A year or two later, I did the ones right above those myself, by hand, a couple months apart. Those didn't hurt at all, healed WAY faster, and never got infected. Impromptu home piercing > evil stabby gun.

Whenever someone asks me about me doing my own, I tell them the honest answer. It worked for me, but that's because I'm obsessive about doing that kind of thing right. It's usually better to just find a good professional. (And yeah, I'm totally evil enough to tell some fascinated 10-year-old that piercings don't hurt. )

I wanna get my belly button done, but I don't have a cute belly yet. I'll prolly just end up with another tattoo instead.
