When you become a manager at my store (a thrift store) you sign a sheet saying if you lose a drop (the big money along with some 5's and 10's you take from the drawer at designated times) you pay for it. I had been at the store awhile and seen other managers lose a drop and pay for it out of their checks. So I told myself when I became manager I would make sure all those drops made their way to the safe.
Things went well for the first few weeks, the alarm company came twice a week and all the drops were there, but then one day a certain drop was missing. Mine. The worst part is it was for 690 dollars. In my store that is a lot of money in one drop.
The other managers and myself figure I left it on the desk on a busy Friday afternoon and one of the employees saw it and grabbed it. 50 dollars comes out of my check every two weeks. Since we only get paid every 2 weeks I still have another... well let's just say my checks will be 50 dollars short for quite a few more months
