  • This one was ALL my fault.

So I started a new job recently, and received relatively NO training. Just "here are some papers to sign, now get out there and sell"! I "sell" credit cards (don't hate me!) at gas bars belonging to a certain Canadian hardware/houseware/automotive store. Today I made a big oops.

The promtion is on for a certain type of credit card, and many people ask me the difference between this and another previous incarnation of the store credit card. Truthfully, I have NO idea what the difference is, but because I get paid per application completed and wanted to up my count, I did some research and thought I found the answer. Or, ya know, not.

Turns out, I was majorly un-informed, and have been passing this (bad) information on to customers. Finally today the girl I was working with got a call from head office (!!!) and was told to tell me the right answer. I totally BS-ed and said that I had been saying that all along. I know, I know, I'm horrible.

Anyways, there are probably 50 people out there who believe something totally wrong about their cards. And it's all my fault.

    WHOOPS!

P.S. To anyone here in Canada, when you stop at this store, please stop trying to run me over. Or if you do, at least fill out an application as an apology. Or fill one out to help put a girl through school.

Did those people read their contract, or just sign after you pointed to the dotted line? If they just signed and went away happy, its their problem. If they read their contract and you told them something different and they still signed, its their problem.

If you altered their contract to agree with what you said, its your problem.

Nope no reading for my customers, they just signed at the 'X'. Luckily, the company sends them tons and tons of information when they get the card, so they can read the stuff and throw out the card if they want. And it won't cost them any money. But still.

Do you really think they are going to read the info any better than they read the contract?

I wouldn't worry about it if I was you. They probably forgot what you said as soon as they drove off.
