It was around 8pm, and I had just worked a long and busy 11-hour shift at CVS. I was looking very forward to getting back home and collapsing into my bed. I go to level 2 in the garage and am somewhat depressed that the sun had gone down and it was dark.
I approach the car and notice the door was left unlocked. I was a bit troubled by this, as locking the door to me was automatic. Meh, no matter. I'm too tired to care, and it was a beater of a car, so it explains why nobody apparently stole it.
I enter the car and immediately notice an odd smell. Oh noes, someone did take advantage of the unlocked door, didn't they? I couldn't pinpoint the odor, though. It wasn't a bad odor as much as it was rather different.
I turn the key and find the ignition wouldn't even turn. Like, it wasn't even that the engine was trying to turn, I physically could not turn the key. It was at this point that my eyes adjusted to the darkness of the parking garage and I was able to look around the car a little more closely.
The upholstery was green, but it's supposed to be blue. I look behind me to see an empty babyseat in the back. It was at that point my face suddenly turned beet red and I could feel my stomach churn.
I look around to see if anyone was nearby, slowly opened the door, got out, and looked around again. A quick shudder goes through my body as I hope nobody, especially the owner, noticed this. I look over and see my car parked nearby, doors locked and without any papers or babyseat. Whew, well, at least this didn't happen to my friend. He had an ignition problem in his car that requires him to literally hotwire his own car to start it. I had the benefit of using the key to prevent me from accidentally driving away with it.
