So, I haven't had much work lately because my main client left my company and set up shop himself. He took my editor and a few writers. Lawyers got involved. I knew my best friend was still in contact with my editor, but didn't realize she was involved with my client.
I signed a non-competion clause when I stated working for my company, so for a while editor wanted to give me work, because she likes my work ESP for this client, but due to the lawyers being involved she wasn't sure she could give me work.
Lawyers have been questioned. Because my best friend is involved with the client's company and she's known me longer than I've been employed by my company my best friend offering me work from them would not be a violation of the non-competition agreement.(But I'm not going to update Linkdin with the new company's info because I'm still retaining my position. In case they ever get more work in for me.)
I was told to expect work in a couple weeks.
Thank goodness I'm tired of being broke!
