So this weekend I had the dreaded clopen shifts: swing shift followed by a day shift. At my old job, this wasn't a problem since I lived nearby, but my new job has a 45 minute commute each way. So I begged Hubs to cover my paper route for me so I could, you know, get some sleep. He actually agreed to do it for some reason.

I just thought about it, and yesterday was the first day off I've had from the paper route in four and a half years. Newspaper delivery is a 7 day a week operation, and the last time I had a day off was when I hired my dad to cover it so Hubs and I could go on our honeymoon.

I'm not sure what this means except that even after dragging my butt out of bed daily at 2:30am for this long, I'm still not a morning person.

    2:30 am isn't 'morning'. It's 'yesterday'.

Chalk me up among those who hate having to be up before the ungodly hour of noon.

Ugh. 2:30. Closest I had to get up was about 3, for the Sunday shifts when I worked retail. We had to be there at 4 to put up new signage every week. That job in general was hell, but Sundays in particular made me question my life. The good thing was at the time I could get home about 8 AM and go back to bed for several hours.

And yes, getting up before noon is awful. I am not really sure why I'm so stoked that I might get an 8-5 job soon, other than it means more time with my fiance.

I usually work swing shifts at my other job so my schedule is typically get up around 2:30am (or at least wake up...sometimes the physically getting up takes a bit longer), do the route, go to the gym, and be home and back in bed by 7am and don't get up again until 11am-noon.

I'm one of those apparently-rare people where not only do I not mind getting up in the early morning, I also don't mind if it's right after a swing shift... as long as I can squeeze in 5-6 hours of sleep.

Luckily, we set our own hours at Big Green Cab Co. My preferred shift is "2 pm until the bars close".

I work nights, so I get off work at 2:30 am. I have to be awake by 3:00 pm to be to work. I work 10 hour days so I always have 3 day weekends.

When I worked days, it was wake up at 5:00 am.

What? You don't play with flamethrowers on the weekends? You are strange.
