Lemme guess, they all want ten years experience and a couple bachelor degrees?
No! I just typed in entry level as a key word and selected "receptionist" as a sub category. The damn thing then took around 4 minutes and and then froze, so I wound up redoing the search with the same criteria, but specifying which region of my town I wanted to work in. It eventually spat out a few jobs.
You must only use these powers for good, understand? No typing that in on any government websites, you hear?
Yeeesss mum
I may have to rethink one of the jobs I applied for today as it has an hour-long commute unless I drive. >.> (train then bus)
Having said that, the government website already seems to be broken because I set up a profile for it and the damn thing spits out jobs I would not be suited for by ANY means.

It's not just your website. I have the same problem. I think it's because I once had a hospital job (pushing gurneys) my local job website keeps sending me RN jobs. I don't have a nursing degree, and certainly don't have one listed on my résumé!

My key words are mostly "arts" "education" "manager" (I stepped up as one for periods of time) and "teacher." I don't get teacher jobs spat at me (thank god) but instead I'll get "Fine Arts curator" or "Executive Manager for blah blah blah" instead.
I wound up updating my LinkedIn profile (adding more network connections) and sent off a mass round of applications via SEEK (jobsearch website) yesterday. (one of which is for a certain producer of videogames )
I got an email today that reads as follows:

Thank you. Turns out it's with 2 people: a consultant who does a bit of work with hooking up temps for government contracts and another consultant that she's currently assisting as her own caseload is fairly light.
As for the rest of my job apps, I was pretty much 0 for 3 on the remainder, although thankfully because they were generic ads, I can avoid getting too attached to them.
So I had my interview today with the consulting lady.
End result: she may have an 8-week job lined up for me (it's a start at least!) and I had to do a data entry test, a Word "use" test and an excel "use" test.
Data entry test I wound up scoring just under 13000 keystrokes per hour, the other two tests I averaged out at around 80%
