Goodness, today really hit hard. The item that is suuuuuper popular at my store is adult coloring books. Funny story, the first time someone asked me for one, my mind went totally blank. I just stared. In my head I was like, "did you just ask me for porn coloring books?!"(Maybe I should "invent" this, I could be a millionaire) I said we didn't have any, and I was right, at the time we didn't carry them. Then later I found out what they were and *headdesked.* We've had them since summer I think.
We still have some coloring books, though people asked me all day about specific styles, like Van Gogh. What we were completely out of is color pencils. None in the fine art section. None in the kids crayola section. Nada. So we were selling fine-tipped pens. Until we ran out of most of those. When I left all we had left were the sets which we have to keep locked up. I sold several of them.
We're nearly out of Seahawks fleece, one lady challenged the "10 yard maximum" rule, but of course was shut down. This is a really strict, completely enforced rule. Asking for a manager will do nothing except make you wait a few minutes longer, and get told no anyway. This is straight from the NFL. I predict being totally out by end of day today, and we won't get more until Monday, if we get any, since we got none last Monday. And oh god, they got into the playoffs. Kill me now. The funny thing is that we used to only have plain cotton, and two patterns of fleece. We now have multiple patterns of both cotton and fleece, and additionally we carry flannel and some nylon water resistant type fabric. You'd think that having all those options would be a good thing, since even if we're out of one pattern, we still have several others to choose from. Well, that was terribly faulting logic there, wasn't it. All it mean is that now there are more ways a customer can get upset when we're out of the specific pattern they want.
