aka - Remodeling.
Yep, all the Litter Box stores in the area are undergoing construction and ours is next in line.
Some of the stores have already had their grocery reset. My former location has theirs already (haven't been in there yet to see what it looks like.) The one near me (the not so nice store across from the cigarette plant) is in the works and our is scheduled to begin next month.
The week of 2-6 is when we get the grocery reset. This involves new gondolas, new product. Several tractor trailers in the parking lot will be on hand with the new fixtures and this will be done overnights. Ma's grandon, (we'll call him Baby - he's a real sweetie and just as hard a worker as we are) will be the overnight key carrier to be on hand while this is going on.
New paint, decor and new signage out front are included to be happening in the next few months (the grand reopening should be either end of July or beginning of August - we've been told not to schedule vacations either July or August, which means I won't get another week off before September at the earliest.
)
New freezers and coolers and display tables in the fresh departments are coming as well. We did find out during our 2 hour meeting this morning /w the construction supervisors and Lead Persons, we will NOT be moving the frozen food section to the far end of the store near the ice cream/dairy aisle (just too much involved to do that as old as the building is we were told and the company is already spending roughly 2 million on our store alone.)
We've already had refrigeration people working for several weeks now on new lines for the incoming freezers/coolers. We're also getting a remodel on the front office, new front end register fixtures and the break room will be redone as well.
We're getting a Keurig and a fridge for our breakroom!!!!!!!
Needles to say, this makes us coffee lovers veeerrry haaaapy.
And the Lead Guy for the project is going to put in for new chairs in the breakroom - ours are splitting apart and Grasshopper just got those replaced 2 years ago. All he's got to do i take pictures of the existing chairs and that should be approved quite quickly.
The back office will be redone with new workstations and a printer, so we don't have to go up front to get stuff that's been printed (good idea.)
And they've alredy said any equipment used in the store must be electric - no gas or propane powered items due to the fact that during the last remodel (over a decade ago, 2005 or so) somebody decided to have the inside of the meat cooler power washed and the entire place filled up with toxic fumes, causing a mass evacuation!

Recalling that created a mass uproar of laughter from our group. It's been that far back, we can laugh about this now.
Hopefully Sheldon won't get any ideas . . .
I don't recall what happened to that Ass Manager that okayed that idea. I was still at the other store then.
But either way, it's going to create a lot of headaches for everyone. They're planning to have folks here at night to retag the shelves as the new stuff is worked in during the reset. We're also getting new flooring, updated restrooms and it'll be aggravation and so much reclaim coming through I already know I'll need to have a wine truck parked outside just for me!
Send wine . . . . white's good but I'll take red too.
