This incident happened earlier this week.
A customer came to my register with several items including baby formula and diapers. She spent over $300.00. When I gave her the receipt as well as the coupons that are randomly generated from the machine at the register, she looked at them and said "I did not get my $10.00 off coupon, which I was supposed to get when I spend *x amount on diapers*, and I did do that. I was banking on getting that coupon." The tone of voice she used was * I expect to get this coupon, and you will help me on this*. So I call for a manager to assist her.
A manager came over to help her. She told her what she told me. So the manager went to where the diapers were. While we were waiting for her to return, I asked her what happened the last time this happened. She said that Kroger gave her a $10.00 gift card.
The manager returned and told her that a vendor that Kroger uses is responsible for generating the coupons, and that they are randomly generated.
The customer was not happy with the answer, and so the manager went to the register behind me and tried to get the coupon she wanted from the machine. She could not do that.
The customer was not happy, and told her that she would complain to Kroger. She told her that Kroger has no control over what coupons are randomly printed from the machine.
