  • A bit rattled

Distressing day at irk. Yeah, we do have serious attendance issues lately. Still, firing three in one day over it? On a team that's already a bit understaffed due to one on leave, one suspended, and several recent voluntary quits and terms for NCNS?

I strongly suspect at least two more are on VERY thin ice for their (non)attendance. If I'm right about them, and if the girl on suspension doesn't come back, I will be the only survivor of a 15-person training class that started in July. If I'm right, we also become an all-female team (our one remaining male team member is one of the "thin ice" people).

If attendance is the only problem, I'm safe, being one of the "superstars" for attendance on my team. It's still unnerving when this happens so suddenly. Makes me wonder what's next.

I know, looking for my next job would be a good idea. If I could manage the time and energy for it, I'd be on it.

If you need to thin the staff due to losing the contract, the first thing you do is get rid if the low hanging fruit. No severance package.

If you are not a problem child, you have better odds of surviving. If you are cut, you might get some bennies in the processes.

I'm guessing that for that many people on a small team to have attendance issues, the job must really suck? Because I'd say that's not really normal.

The job isn't exactly anyone's career dream, but I've had worse. A lot of it, IMO, is that we have a lot of younger, less mature types who are still getting a handle on such adult responsibilities as showing up for work. Also, illnesses do go around and family stuff happens.

In a call center it is there is such a high turnover rate I have been in call centers for 10 years if you start a class with 25 expect 5 to make it past the 90 days and 2 to a year and 1 past a year ect the cycle starts over I work in a smaller call center now and they hire like 10 to 15 at a time and by the end of the training they may have 3 left

I have a call centre job too and our turnover is nowhere near that bad. My particular team is help desk so it's not very stressful but even in the main call centre, it's not that bad.

However, it probably helps that we're largely inbound, for now anyway. Outbound sales are absolutely soul sucking, I did that once...

Im currently in a inbound sales call center it is that bad because if u don't sell meet the number are in draw eventually out the door you go, ive done collections now that's a bigger turnover then my current center and I have done disputes for another center witch you get your self fired by attendance most of the time. I also did customer service and because of the way the company treated staff aka they were just a number it was a high turn over. Most call centers your just a number and they don't care but the current one im in is a small dept not in sales and I work till 1 am on my own so they work with me I work with them because it would be hard to find someone they trust on there own and work till 1 am.

I refuse to do outbound. I'll cashier in a convenience store first.

In other news, the problems got a whole lot worse today. See http://www.customerssuck.com/board/s...d.php?t=117007 (my post today) for particulars.

Good luck I hate job hunting and it doesn't help that jc pennys hhgreg payless Gymboree sears claires j.crew and macys are all closing or are slated to close this year if things don't improve. Lost of people are predicting some of those listed to close even tho they haven't announced it yet.
