Well, I have had a couple weeks to get settled in. As a quick background, I am working as a cook at a fish hatchery in Alaska. This is probably one of the most laid back jobs I have ever had. The other cook and I prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner for the crew along with two snacks. We don't have to worry about tourists or the general public. I like my coworkers too.
The internet is better than I expected but I still won't be watching any Netflix. So far, I have my own room which I am really enjoying. Room and board is free so I can use my paycheck towards credit cards and paying the bills back home.
I can look out the window while I'm working and have a good chance of seeing a whale or sea lions. At night, I go to sleep to the sound of birdsong instead of traffic noises.
I think this is going to be an awesome season.
