  • Lucky for me he had a great sense of humor!

    We've been super busy the past two months. It's almost like Christmas...scary! Anyway, I've posted before about being called up to run a register nearly every night I work. It's frustrating because we're so short-handed as it is, that getting called up front makes it even more difficult to get my work done.

    One night last weekend, Friday, I think, we had been slammed all evening long. I had returns up the wazoo, the dept was trashed and I was completely overwhelmed when I got the call to go up front. I was not happy.

    The first couple in my line were friendly and we were joking back and forth about how it takes longer to check out in my store than it takes to shop. It's gotten so bad that people are leaving carts full of groceries and walking out. I mentioned to them how much work I had waiting for me in my dept and that I was going to have to work overtime just to get caught up.

    This conversation then took place:

    FM = Friendly Man
    Me = Yours truly

    FM: "Since you're going to be getting overtime and making all those big bucks, I'd like these cherries gift wrapped."

    Me: Giving him the stare of death..."You wanna wear those cherries?"

    As soon as I said it I thought, Oh jeez, I'm in big trouble now!!! BUT, he busted out laughing and just egged me on even more. I think I got lucky this time!

    The hellhole is calling me ~
    I don't want to go.

    Even if he didn't have a sense of humor, he deserved it.
