    Do you like to me micro-managed?

    I sure do!

    Come to my seminar on micro-managing where I’ll teach you how to let your bosses micro manage you to the point of not allowing you *any* room to breathe! Yes, and managers are welcome to get the upper hand on cutting-edge micro-managing strategies!

    Be told what to do, every minute. Get told when to take your lunch, even where to go and what to eat. When to go to the bathroom, which task to perform and when (and when it should be done!).

    That must be the same seminar my former manager went to. She was a she-beast from hell!

    I feel your pain and hope it comes to an end soon!

      I got instructions on how to open an envelope by the insane bitch at the gallery... I was not allowed to use HER envelope opener, nor when I substituted a ruler was I allowed to use that, or a pen or scissors or anything but my finger. I even had to open the envelopes in front of her, one at a time so she could observe and coach me.... these were for envelopes that we were throwing out afterwards!

      and when I asked if I could cut up the left over paper from it to make scrap I got told to "not overstep my boundaries" and made to throw them out.

      So much for reducing our impact on the enviroment!

        You win, Kiwi. Instructions and oversight on how to open envelopes with your finger.

        That's a new one on me.

          You have no idea, the things that went on (and are still going on for the staff still working there) were the stupidest and most pathetic I have ever seen.

          One of my co-workers was screamed at, for dusting a display...she was told to dust, but when she took a vase down to dust inside it (you know to do a good through job) she was told she had "ruined it". It being the display... the bitch then spent an hour muttering to herself about how she snapped and how we all hate her and how this co worker always ruins her displays on purpose.

          This co-worker by the way was a trained merchandiser whos work had been in magazines and had her own interious design firm on the side and did amazing displays.

          Looking back I wish I had stood up more for myself and my coworkers, I had valid reasons not to, but I still wish I had.

            What about teaching someone how to push shopping carts?

            When I was a cart guy at Walmart. The stupid SM, tried to show me how to push carts. It was already 6 months into the job. I pushed carts, when I would shop with family. He would push one cart with one hand, and the other hand would pull another cart. He had me push the one that he pulled. He said that this way, was the right way to do the job.

              Call center story.

              At the place where I used to work, We had buttons on our phones like, lunch and break. Management was very strict about always pressing the break button on the phones.

              Conversation between manager and fellow co-worker who was 8 months pregnant.

              M = I need to talk to you about your break times
              CW = Ok.
              M = according to the call center nazi observers, you are pressing the 'break' button too many times in the day.
              CW = Yes, I had to use the bathroom. I'm pregnant. You already approved this. Am I going over my minutes?
              M= no
              CW=then what's the problem?
              M= Well, they need a valid dr's excuse.
              CW = I'm pregnant.
              M= they need the excuse so you can split up your breaks like that.
              CW = I'm PREGNANT.

              Did I mention she was 8 months pregnant? Not something you can hide!!!

              In the manager's defense, he was only the messenger.

                When I was working at Walmart. We had this one pregnant woman. One of the AM's, told her, that she should not have gotten pregnant. Since she knew it would interfere with her job.. The AM, was a bitch to employees and customers alike.

                  That's one hell of a lawsuit waiting to happen that Wally-world would have settled VERY quickly and VERY quietly, posisbly quite largely, too.

                    Yeah it would, but she was able to take the time off, and during which, I had quit. Today I saw her working, and was going to hello; but I was not able too.

                      I'm sorry . . . WTF?!

                      As a former Wal-Slave, I can attest to how they treat their employees like dog crap, but this is a new low.

                      No, don't have children of your own, you know, fulfillment in your life and all that, slaving away here unappreciated is much more important

                      A job at Wal-Mart is never too important to be 'interfered' with. Gawd . . .

                        I worked for a woman who said this about an employee - not to her face though as far as I know. Lawsuit city!! This was the same manager who wanted me to come into work with a raging case of the flu (because she hadn't approved my days off), yelled at me for stuttering on the phone once, and who wanted me (assistant manager in title only) to yell at someone ELSE for taking too many bathroom breaks. She tried to stop all the employees from drinking coffee on our breaks because it would make us pee too often, and constantly bitched about us keeping water bottles in the back.

                        Jeez, I had forgotten how horrid she was.

                          I think they've been hit with stuff like that before. They get fined fairly often for labor violations. But they save so much money by paying their employees notably less than the competition that they can just shrug them off.

                          I remember reading one story about them where one region cut out all daycare facilities and arranged the scheduling so that people with family or school obligations (basically competition for Walmart in the lives of their peons) would be as inconvenienced as possible and so would quit over it.
