  • Stop whining~

Where I work, every client there HAS to submit a minimum or 4 urine samples a month for drug testing. Sometimes they have to get a breathalyzer as well.

All the women are pretty easy going about it, they will come in, pee, and go back to bed.

The men though! They whine and moan and take the ENTIRE 2 hours they have to submit a sample to give one. Then complain that they have to get up early.

Here's the thing though, samples aren't taken until after midnight. Around midnight, or a little bit before, one of us will go to the rooms and tell everyone who was randomly chosen that they have to give a sample.

Most of the whiners have been there for quite some time. They should know, by now, to either hold it until about 1230, or if they really have to go, they can come into the office and ask if they are on the list.

The only people who even have the SLIGHTEST excuse would be the sex offenders. Since they are kept seperated from everyone else, they don't know they have to give a sample until the others are done, just for thier own safety. But they are, oddly enough, the best behaved people there and usually give a sample immediatly.

They aren't really "sucky customers" so I put it in here. After listening to a grown 45 year old man whine for 1 hour and 45 minutes last night I had to vent!

Well geez, if I got woken up after midnight to be told "Hey, time to pee in a cup" I'd be slightly annoyed. But I'd do it pdq so that I could...get back to sleep! Which would keep my whining to a minimum. If I wasn't asleep, I might be annoyed at an interruption of my activity, which means I'd do it pdq so that I could...get back to what I was doing! Which would keep my whining to a minium. Geez louise. And these people KNOW it is coming.

One question though. Would it be possible for someone to just do it in the morning, or is it a "right now, whether you need to go or not" kinda thing?

It's a RIGHT now thing. The only people who can't be woken up are the federal clients (which means they come from federal prisons). Apparently there are different rules for them. They get to do it first thing in the morning. I'm not quite sure why the feds have different standards...but they can't be sent for kitchen duty in the morning either. Anyway, the reason most of them are tested at night, is because mornings and afternoons are filled with comings and goings....almost everyone goes to the kitchen (up the road a bit) for breakfast, and some of them work as early as 4 AM. Others don't get back at night until 10 or 11 PM. And since it's a random testing, it's "sprung" so they can't warn the others that it's coming. Every night it's a group of 4-15 people who get tested. They have to do it at least 4 times a month. IF they have been doing some sort of drug (most often weed) and they have advanced warning, there is a chance they can get a hold of this drink (forgot the name of it) that actually CAN hide the THC in urine.

Or the women have a chance to insert a "balloon" wtih clean urine. You can make it harder for them do to that, but you can't exactly see that.

I actually really like it there. The whining is my biggest pet peeve. it's not much fun to have to watch them pee in a cup either (I watch the women, of course. A man over sees the males) and I've learned new terminology (A whizzinator anyone?) The guy who I'm pretty sure is making some form of sexual remark in spanish is getting on my nerves too. I've instituted a "No spanish" rule around me, because he is making me uncomfortable...but I have NO IDEA what he is saying. It's just the way he says it. And my spanish is limited to "Name" the numbers 1-20, "shut up" and other minor terms

Funny story about the "whizzinator" though...there was a black man giving a sample...with a white whizzinator. Gee....that's not obvious AT ALL!

Me too, and by pdq I mean right after I remember who I am, where I am, and what the exactly is the object the tester is handing me.

*Twitch* Of course, the sex offenders want off on good behavior so they can attack another child.

so is peeing in public after drinking too much, or dating a 17 year old when you're 18, and many many things that DO NOT include children. I've seen people put on the "sex offender registry" for drunkenly swatting someone on the butt-

Off topic, but I was looking on that family watch dog site where you can pinpoint sex offenders in your area and see if any live close to you. There is a map with a legend that is color coded, aka one color means rapist, one color means child molester, etc....

You click on one and you get a picture. I was curious and did a search of where my parents live. There are several young men that I personally recognize from either high school, old customers from the gas station, or even ex coworkers from my high school jobs. And these guys didn't molest KIDS, they had sex with 15 and 16 year olds when they were 18 or 19.

They need to better differenciate between molesting children and having sex with teenage girls.

Right now, the term "sex offender" is utterly useless. It's been too broadly applied to too many people without enough regard for what it should really mean and too little control over whether the person being slapped with it really deserves it.

Though I'm helping this topic veer OT, I have to chime in. I completely agree. Especially given that in different cities/states/countries the rules are different, I think it is very unfair to label someone who had a relationship that involved sex with someone younger than them a sex offender. I actually have a coworker from somewhere in Europe who was shocked when we were surprised that his girlfriend was only 17 (he's 24), and had no idea that she could actually press charges for statutory rape. That kind of situation just kind of illustrates how it could be abused, in my opinion.

I saw on the news the other day a story about a guy who might have to register as a sex offender...because he mooned a family who happened to have their kid or kids with them.

Quite the overreaction if you ask me. Boorish yes, and illegal possibly, but how does that rise to the level of a guy boinking 6-year-olds?

One time we truck unloaders were taking our break outside the store one night and one of our coworkers mooned us from his friend's car. I am sure there were children in the vicinity. Whooda thunk my coworker was a sex offender?

Two thirteen year old boys were caught slapping some girls on the ass (rude, absolutly, they would have recieved a punch in the face from me) and have been charged with (something or another) and may have to register as sexual offenders.

By all means, suspend them, give them a class on sexual harrassement, but having to register as a sex offender for life because they touched a girls ass? A bit much IMO

I agree and I think some people don't realize exactly what being a registered sex offender really entails. On the extreme end it can entail murder from someone who just looked at the list and saw a name and didn't read the charge, and decided the person on that list deserved more punishment.

In less extremes it could mean, not being able to go to your child's parent teacher conferences, school plays, sporting events etc. Sure the person could go, but you always worry about what happens if someone calls the cops etc. Friends of your child not being able to come over because of the stigma. So on and so forth.

It is an extremely tough road to travel, and hopefully things will change.
