  • Hate inventory...

Yeah, okay- that pretty much sums it up. I hate doing inventory... and I have another one next week.

I especially hate that our computer shows we have around 500 items that we don't carry, never carried and never will carry.

    Headache.

    Coffee.

    Ibuprophen.

    Exhaustion.

    Bleh.

You had that crap also with the computers. I once got in trouble because of them. The computer said that we had 16 of something. When infact, we only had 10. They thought, that I had stoled them, I quit, about 2 weeks later

We did our quarterly inventory about a week ago. We were out in a big way, and what was weird was that it was a result of being short or over one or two per item.

If we had been out say, 300 of ONE item, it would have been a simple error when we input an order into our system. I could have tracked that down really easily. But one or two of every single item we carry?

Turns out it was a result of major incompetence and laziness on the staff member who did the two inventories that I missed while I was away. It took forever to fix her mistakes.

We don't have to count again until October.

Oh, fine. I'll take one for the team.

Funny that you should mention it but the computer said that we should have around 300 (296?) new/sale copies of a movie. Okay, we NEVER had it- never will. Not even 1 let alone about 300 of them. The first run I did was almost 3,000 items off- but there was a known error about the computer system saying that stores had a 1,000 each of several different gift cards. Once I fixed that life was much better.

Most of my 'offs' were computer errors. We just recently had a disgruntled employee quit and I think maybe some of this was his parting gift to me.
Now he has come asking for his job back and he has, get this- given me his permission to hire him back on as my Assistant Store Manager.
Yeah... but that's another story entirely.

In the end we posted less missing items (even with the weird stuff) than any other store in the district.
