  • Well, I'm fired...

Got fired today. I was around long enough to finish my normal morning cheque run, then they escorted me to the HR office, handed my my notice of termination, then escorted me to empty my desk and out of the building.

Given what happened this week, I'm not shocked. It sucks, because I can't see a way I could have prevented it, short of being precognative, but I'm not shocked.

I don't feel like ranting on it right now... maybe in a while. Sufficie it to say I made a mistake. Not a negilent mistake because I wasn't paying attention, not an ignorant mistake because I didn't know my job... there was just too much chaos going on (Printer was all screwy) and an error slipped past me, despite my best efforts to double check. And since there's no other checks on the stuff I produce, it went right out the door.

So after a week of getting wrung out by fear and worry over this, the result was kinda anticlimactic. Still, my landlady gave me two months notice at the beginning of October because she wants to move her son in... so, no job, and in a month no place to live.

    Perfect.

    Got fired today.
All I can say is I'm sorry. I know (literally) how tough this set of circumstances is and my heart goes out to you. As you work through things (and you will) and things start to look a little brighter (and they will) I'm sure you will remain as positive as this note written at a low point shows you can be.

Good luck and my thoughts and prayers.

      I feel for you.

But hey, one good side to this....at least they didn't make you work your entire shift and THEN terminate you and escort you out. It's a common tactic at the factory. Unless someone walks out or does something rash and dangerous, if they are planning on terminating someone, they will keep them there for 7 1/2 hours of their shift as if everything is normal, then at a half hour to shift change, they will call them in, terminate them, and escort them out around quarter to or ten to.

At least they didn't waste a lot of your time.

Get a paper and look in the employment ads. Maybe inform your landlord of the circumstances?

the thing with the landlord is I'm sure her son would have nowhere to stay if she let Polenicus stay.

I really don't know how it is to be in your situation, but I'm sure you'll find work and a new place to stay soon
