I felt this was better fitted here than as an addendum to my post in the SC forum.
My 'office' [mail order pharmacy actually] is now in the busy part of the year. There are 11 people including myself and the manager, and the office physically doesn't have room to hire any more people.
Most of the time 2 of our pharm. techs and one pharmacist will be in the back picking and filling orders. The boss almost never picks up incoming calls. One of the other pharm. techs coordinates only Synagis orders, but will help out with the phones on occasion. [If you're interested, see http://www.synagis.com/Default.aspx for what this medicine is.] The remaining pharmacist doesn't usually pick up incoming calls unless it's super busy.
So that leaves me and 4 other people to handle 5 incoming lines, with several dozen patients calling every day. It's typical to have 40-50 voicemails upon opening on Monday morning, with 20 or so messages Monday afternoon. Fortunately it tends to slow down as the week progresses.
