  • Could you like me a little less, please?

So, I'm lounging around because I didn't have to be to work until 5:45 and I'm texting the girlfriend during her downtime.

I then get a text from BK, my department senior asking me to come in and help him make the schedule.

So, I'm sitting beside him in the breakroom, mainly watching the tv but also telling him what would work for me and what wouldn't. I really wasn't paying attention. Then he goes to me, "can you work Wednesday?" I hemmed and hawed on it because I have a class that requires me to be up at like 7am, so I hate working after it. After a bit I go, "oooook."

He gets done with the schedule... and he kind of looks at in amazement. He pulled out his phone and starts talking to someone. Mind you, I'm a man and sports center is on, so I'm not really paying attention.

He gets off the phone and goes, "great! You don't work on Wednesday." I was thinking, "excellent, I can sleep right after class the rest of the day."

Then the dots in my head connected and I go, "did you have me scheduled every day?""

He goes, "umm... yeah" the paused for a minute before saying, "the problem is, if I like you, I'm going to make you work." And I know he does like me. I've been there about 3 months, and he's given me more responsibility than the people who have been there longer.

I'm up for review and his exact words, "I'm going to try and get you the maximum on your raise. You deserve it!"

My last day off was Tuesday, my next day of will be Wednesday. Then who knows what stretch I'll be working again. I also have mid-terms next week. I might die.

Maybe you should run over his dog or sleep with his wife.

Well the girlfriend is probably not going to appreciate the second suggestion but you can always feed his dog to him afterwards. What Titus Adronicus is that revenge isn't as fun if you don't feed them their kin afterwards.
How was I supposed to know someone was slipping you Birth Control in the food I've been making for you lately?

Hehehe... I'm pretty sure the girlfriend would drop me like a bad habit if I did either or. She's good for that.

I'll just put up with it and make him pay later...

You can justify it: "I'm doing it for you darling. If the boss hates me, he'll give me less shifts, so I'll have more time to spend with you."

Just remember, the more you work, the less time you have to spend money!
The only words you said that I understood were "His", "Phone" and "Ya'll". The other 2 paragraphs worth was about as intelligible as a drunken Teletubby barkin' come on's at a Hooter's waitress.

I love spending money too, but I also love to spend my money in large chunks. I am not so much for going and buying a $20.00 shirt as I am for going and buying a $200.00 MP3 player. Therefore, working long weeks with no time off for a few weeks, I will be able to stockpile for the next big ticket on the list.

Right now, I have promised myself if I graduate next year with an A average I am getting this.

You young whippersnappers always complaining about how much work you have to do. Sheesh!

A little hard work never killed anyone. Besides, don't you want to see what you're capable of? Don't you like a challenge?

I'm also a full-time college student. So those days when most people are done with work at 5, I'm going home grabbing a quick bite and going to class for another 3 hours. Or in some instances... I'm going to class for 2 hours, then going to work for another 8. I love a challenge.. but next Friday when I'm scheduled 4-11:45, then 6am-5pm on Saturday, I realize it's going to be tough.

Of course, the reason why I'm doing all this is so I can get a regular job and not work 40 hours a week, plus 15 hours of school plus whatever homework I have. Oh, not to mention finding time to go to my parent's house and take care of the cats and the dog when they're not going to be home to do so.

I know what I'm capable of, I'm capable of running circles around most people I work with. I'm also capable of a 4.0 gpa. I'm also capable of helping out in my community and maintaining a long-distance relationship (although, that doesn't bother me at all), all while still having fun and keeping my house cleaner than just about anyone's you'd ever meet.

I have the right to complain a little and not be told I'm afraid of a challenge.
