Christmas Bonus!

Yesterday I was told that I get a Christmas bonus.
I said "Wha?" and gave the look.

The admin. asst. said "Yes, Knightmare. You get a bonus."
"But I've only been here 5 months" was my reply.
"Everyone that works for The City get a bonus. The longer you work, the more you get."
"Cool. Well, $5.00 is better than a poke in the eye." I said, jokingly.
"$5.00? No, your bonus will be..." and she took out a calculator and brought up payroll and did some quick calculations. "Your bonus will be roughly $$$$."

"WHAT? That much? But, but, but..." I stammered.
"Pretty neat, eh? You should see *coworker's* bonus. He's been here for over 25 years."
And then two transformers blew and we lost power, which meant the plant was about to get fukt. So back to work I went.

But that was great news!

Not only did I just get another raise, but now I get a very nice Christmas bonus! Last year at Lowe's, I got a bonus of $17.00 or so. Laughable. But this..

Emily will have a GOOD Christmas this year!

I complained about my company's Christmas "bonus" program. It involves, each year without fail, some small trinket that costs more to ship than to buy (one year, I could tell you exactly how many arcade tickets (200) it would have cost to purchase), with the company's logo on it so that we will "remember" them whenever we use it.

So far, I've only had one out of eleven "gifts" that ever got used. And it's being used as a storage bag in a closet somewhere. Which is probably in my company's best interest. After all, if I used them regularly, I would be continually reminded just how chintzy the company is.

Seriously... a fifty buck gift certificate for management people... or even a twenty-five dollar one... would help employee morale a whole lot, at not a huge total cost to the company.

Awesome Christmas bonus!

Back when I worked at Crappy Tire, the store owner would get all of the employee's a $25 gift certificate to BP's, and a very nice beer mug/pint glass. Me and my old roommate (he worked there as well) would then pool our coupon's together for a great night out. (FYI, $50 buys a lot of beer. )

What is this bonus you speak of? Most places I've worked have the 'be happy we pay you anything and why should we give you a bit extra for the holidays when it would just mean less money for us' attitude.

I had a boss string me along for TWO MONTHS to get my bonus.

As I'm now out of retail, and business I don't get any christmas bonus now. But I do get a lot more time off, which after 7 christmas retail years I think will go down rather nicely.

I don't get a monetary bonus, however, I go on vacation from 12/22 until 01/03.

i don't get any holiday bonuses, but this week i did get a $150 performance bonus, to plagerize madrocketscientist, schweet!.

...oh, this is on top of my 10 hours of overtime pay

Meijer is the only place I've ever worked who doesn't give bonuses at Christmas. My first year there I asked one of my co-workers if we got a bonus and he said, "Your bonus is, you don't have to be here Christmas day."

They used to give us a whopping $5 coupon to be used on general merchandise but we don't even get that anymore.

(I do, however, get a bonus plus a huge ham from my other job.)

I'm not sure if i'm eligible or not, wal mart's ranges from $20 to $200

i get my myshare(quarterly bonus based on store performance) on december 13th though, so that's something(even though it sucks this quarter)
