  • Someone at the factory was not paying attention.

This represented 75% of our onhand stock that I had to pull for "defective reasons." Of course, i have to thank the SC that left one of these books with the pages sticking out and not telling us in the first place and instead going for the more pristine and non-defective copy.

Do I find it completely ironic and unsettling as to what the loose pages were?

That's amusing. I wonder if it was deliberate...

I once ordered a book that listed for $160.00 (Engineering Texts can be pricey). After two weeks of use, I was taping pages back to the binding. Contacted Amazon for a new copy and the new copy did THE EXACT SAME THING!

Finally contacted the publisher and had them send me a new copy. Third time was the charm and the pages are staying put.

But for $160.00 from a major publisher, you'd think the QC would be a bit tighter.

Our senior year yearbooks were screwed up.

Some books had pages missing and the rest...the spine fell off.

          Mine's duct taped in place.

I remember hearing a story once about how an executive of a publisher told the printer to use less glue in the binding. When asked why, the exec replied "It's too good right now. It'll hold together forever. No one's ever going to need a replacement copy if we sell them this. We want them buying a new copy every few years."

Truth aside, it sure makes a lot of sense.

And Games Workshop. Another reason why I never got into Warhamster in any shape or form. I dread enough the coming of 4th edition D&D recently anounced.

I got into Warhammer for a while, but only because I enjoyed painting the little figurines.

Me: "Cool! Look look! I painted blood on this rat thing's axe!"
Brother: "...Alrighty then...you ready to play?"
                  Me: "Play what?"

For awhile every box of chips (tortilla chips) we got from one company... most of the bags weren't sealed. You could see on the bag where they'd been run through some kind of machine to be sealed, but it obviously didn't work.

I think we damaged out about a dozen boxes of them before our warehouse finally got rid of all of that batch, and I'm sure every other store in the region had the same problem. They're a fairly popular item in our store too, so we had lots of fun explaining to customers why we were out of them for so long.

The chips tasted just fine.. didn't taste stale at all, but obviously we can't sell unsealed food product. We did get to munch on them every time we hit the chip aisle - our distributor doesn't ask for the product back unless it's a recall.
