Thats a new one for me o_O

I just started work, there are no customers so I'm outside freezing my butt off while talking to swing guy who just needed to get his cig. We're talking, and a two customers come in. We go in talking, talking to customers, one customer buys his beer and leaves quickly. Swing guy is by the front door, periodicly coming in to say a witty comment and smoking outside. He comes in to hear the second customer talk about his days of working at our job, before we became franchised. (Note one: We've always been corporate, and always will be). And he wants to know if we can still call the police by pulling out the last dollar in the till. (Apperently in his days, all the tills had a magic final dollar that if pulled, would have the police come). Blah blah blah, he leaves. We go back outside. The first customer gets off the phone and leaves with him.

We're talking, blah blah blah, when I noticed a adnormal amount of police driving by. I swear I saw at least a dozen cop cars driving by. I mean, I know that we have a 24 donut shop right next door ( KIDDING). I point this out to swing guy when a cop car pulls up. Two cops come out of the car, and ask how long we've been here, blah blah blah.

Apperently someone just used our payphone to call in a bomb threat. (To where I have no idea, they wouldn't tell me). We tell them what we saw with the two cusotmers. They want to see the tape. (It doesn't show outside, but it does show the two customers). I point the two out. All is well, they leave.

An hour later another cop comes in. Waits til I waited on customers, (Where of course they all ask whats up, were we robbed, anyone died blah blah). Cop wants to see the tape too., I show him, he wants to know if he can have it. No problem. I give him hte tape, he gives me a recipt to give to manager to give to corporate.

Never did hear what the guy didm a bomb threat. THe one we think did it has always been a few screws loose, but damn o_O.

some register drawers have a metal contact that will set off a hold up alarm if the last bill is removed from the metal holder. so no magic to it.
Basically a fail safe if the crook gets behind the counter before you can push in the normal holdup alarm, and was a pain in the ass when the cashier's were either new or forgot that register had one, because we had to dispatch pd on all hold ups.
