Warning: WoW humor involved.
So I work a call center/Answering Service. I take calls for companies, and then decide if they go to an On Call person or get held for the office in the morning. I work overnights, 10p-6a. I generally have a funloving co-worker Martha online with me until 1a or 2a.
So then, I'm on the east coast. It snowed a bit, maybe two or three inches. We're chatting about the general flow of the calls, and she mentions just taking a call where the caller just doesn't shut up, rambles on and we can't get a word in edgewise. Thusly...
M: Martha!
O: that's me! Oh how confusing.
M: Ohh I hate when they don't let you get a word in edgewise.
O: Aye, I've had calls like that where they just repeat everything ever time it's their turn to speak again.
M: Haha, exactly. Some time ago I took a call like that, and after so long without being able to get the caller to hush, I end up transfering her over to the SPV at the time. And after SHE listened to the caller for a while she throws out there "Ma'am, you're talking me to death. If you just let me get your info, I can help you out." The Spv and I still laugh over it now and then
O:
When I get callers like that after three attempts to interrupt, if they don't let me talk, I assume it's a prank call and say goodbye.
M: That's what I call Call Control.
O: Hehe I'm all about the CC, that's why I play a mage!
M: ... ????
(ohh right, M's of the older, less gamerlike crowd and probably thinks I'm a kook)
O: ... And unless you happen to be a WoW nut, that wouldn't make any sense...
O: But trust me, it was hilarious!
I don't know, I thought it was funny :P I gaver her a brief once over on WoW, the term mage, and that CC stood for crowd control. Laaaala.
