  • No more customers, no more crooks, no more managers' dirty looks! Got a new job!

    I'm excited!

I got a new job and it is CUSTOMER FREE! I'm now working as a Social Marketing/Journalism Assistant for Disaboom. Disaboom is this neato dot com startup that is dedicated to "blowing the doors off" (according to the founder) stereotypes about people with disabilities. It's a great community, with blogs and a forum, and all the health information is written by doctors exclusively for the site- and get this, the founder's name....

    ....Can I get a drumroll?

    DR HOUSE!

...That's right, I now work for Dr. House. But not that one :P It's still fun to tell people, though.

Anyway, I'm actually really passionate about being an advocate for disability rights- my dad's best friend is a polio survivor and some of my fondest childhood memories are of going to political events and riding around on Joe's motor scooter talking about different bills that were before various legislative bodies that would affect people with disabilities like Joe. I'm really thrilled about this!

            <3 You're so nice! Thanks!

By the way, anyone here who has a disability and is willing to talk a little bit about it, I would love to hear from you- I'm working on a story that will be posted in various places and submitted to small local newspapers about job hunting and work with a disability- there are a lot of questions newly disabled people have, like "When do I tell a potential employer I have a disability" or "What kind of accomodation at work can I request?" and I'm working on an article that gives several different answers to those questions from several different people who have a disability and are part of the workforce. Cutenoob, I'm sending you a PM, and anyone else who wouldn't mind talking to me by phone or online, please speak up!
