I'm kinda confused... I got paid twice this week... thoughts?

I always get paid on Wednesdays. I got paid this week, as usual, for the amount I was expecting.

Then I check my internet banking tonight, as I usually do 2-3 times a week. Seems there was a deposit today. I spent money, but didn't put any in. Odd. Curiosity got the better of me and I called the bank just now because on the day of a transaction, it simply tells me credit/debit on the computer, then the next day it comes up with the business name. I go through the verifications and the guy tells me it was my work that put money in! WTF?!

So now I'm worried. Why would they give me extra cash? The amount wasn't small, either. Last paycheck was $300. This extra was $200. Thoughts?

Edit: I'm going to ask a supervisor at work tomorrow. For now I'm just worried.

Just don't spend it until you have it in writing it wasn't a mistake.

Or better still, spend it quick, and insist that you can only afford to pay it back 10 dollars at a time, over a period of nearly 20 payslips.

Well I know I'm not fired. I just signed a part-time contract a few weeks ago, so there are hurdles to jump if they want me gone. I've only been there since August, and I haven't heard about a bonus. And it's not leave cos I have like half an hour of vacation leave so far.

It's 2am and I can't sleep with all this suspense!

Especially since it wasn't the same amount as the paycheck.

Definitely report it. My father has had companies do that with LARGE amounts (he's in software development) and use whether or not he reports it as a 'test.' He has also been told to do this with new employees when they are trying to figure out if they are honest enough to keep on staff/ give a promotion to. Always report extra pay, no matter the amount or circumstances- it's a mistake or a test. Worst case, you have to pay it back- best case you get a promotion for being honest.

I actually got extra pay one time, well not really extra. Just back pay that was owed to me.

It was paid back to me in a week where it put me over 40+. My boss just told me consider it interest and penalities to the company for not paying it to me sooner.

Mystery solved, it's next week's pay. I have less hours this week so it's not as much. I went in to get my payslip and next week's was attached. I haven't even worked all my shifts yet. lol.
